Mountain View, Calif. - March 31, 2005 - Nouveau Systems announced the upcomming release of Nouveau Alliance Collaboration Server 2.0 today. Nouveau Alliance Collaboration Server is a robust, peer-to-peer (P2P) framework for collaboration-enabled and service-oriented solutions.
Nouveau Alliance Collaboration Server provides its functionality through an extensible set of platform services, and application logic that runs within a set of workspace containers. The collaboration server framework is light-weight and modular, and enables adding new functionality and creating custom servers by adding and configuring services and application logic. Its advanced service-oriented architecture (SOA) makes it easy to add new services and combine existing services to create new ones that are accessible anywhere in the peer network. "Nouveau Alliance server framework eliminates the complexity of creating services and service-oriented solutions, by enabling you to reuse what you already know about creating standard software components, said Lawrence Smith, Vice President of Engineering at Nouveau Systems.
Nouveau Alliance Collaboration Server's intelligent peer-to-peer (P2P) grid technology offers scalable performance by providing a powerful, distributed processing model, and enabling new servers and services to be purchased and deployed incrementally, with no additional administrative overhead. Workspace can be transparently added anywhere in the peer network, and moved from one server to another to distribute processing load. Remote applications and other servers automatically "discover" the workspace with no additional programming or administrative overhead.
Seamless collaboration is built in to Nouveau Alliance Collaboration Server, including support for real-time collaboration. The platform "collaboration enables" all components, data models and tools, eliminating the need for separate, disconnected collaboration, meeting, and sharing solutions. This includes "off-the-shelf" data models, Java Beans, standard software components, and end-user tools. "Nouveau Alliance Collaboration Server eliminates the need to create specialized data models or to learn complex collaboration architectures to create collaboration-enabled solutions.", according to Mr Smith.
Nouveau Alliance Collaboration Server provides a complete set of security services. User authentication uses JSSE and standard directory services such as NIS, LDAP and Microsoft Active Directory. Workspaces can be fully encrypted using strong security through JCE/JSA algorithms, and support secure communications using SSL/TLS/HTTPS technologies. Security providers and levels of security are completely configurable, enabling each server to be configured with the level and type of security that are right for that installation.
Noueau Alliance Collaboration Server integrates with external systems, including corporate information systems; application, document management, database, and email servers; and directory, messaging, and web services. It is completely written in Java, and is available on a wide range of environments, including Windows 2000/XP, Linux, MacOS 10, Solaris, HP/UX, and AIX. This first major upgrade of the product is expected to be available at the end of the second quarter.
